I’m including this note in every set of rankings because I think it’s important that people read this to get my perspective. As you know I always have put a premium on looking at the whole picture. While I give tremendous weight to NCAA’s I’ll never be completely beholden to them. I’m not taking away anyone’s All-American medal, nor am I implying that they aren’t deserving of the placement they achieved. I think it's important to not be a prisoner to 3 days in March. There's months of data that still does have value. I refuse to ignore it. Placing 4th at NCAA’s does not necessarily mean you had the 4th best collection of wins and losses on the year. Yes, that could even include you being behind someone you beat head to head at NCAA’s. I’m not telling you how to think, I’m telling you how I think.
Brewer is undeniable at #1. Schopp was tough to place with his wins over Dardanes, Gulibon, Bruno and DiCamillo ALL at NCAA's but losses to Richardson at NCAA's and Perry at EWL's hinder his ascent. Mason Beckman was another tough guy to peg. Like AJ he had a not so good loss at conference and followed it up with a bad round 1 loss (Jade Rauser in Mason's case). Then they both went on complete tears. So yes, he beat Hall, but Hall only fell to Mason and Clark at NCAA's. Mason had worse losses on the year and I think Halls wins hold up. (He's the -1 portion of Cody Brewer's season record).
